When to see a doctor
- Feeling low most of the day, every day, for more than 2 weeks: see a doctor. Run Low mood beside this page.
- Loneliness that is very severe or has lasted a long time raises the risk of stress, anxiety and low mood: run the mood check and tell a doctor if it is there.
- A long-term, overwhelming fear of social situations, where you dread people rather than miss them: that is social anxiety. See a doctor if it has a big impact on your life, and run Social confidence.
- You often feel the need to have a drink, people warn you about your drinking, or it is causing you problems: start with a doctor, and run Drinking less.
I am not a doctor. This is not medical advice. This is self-education. Every figure on this page is the one a study reported, quoted from the source. Talk to a physician who has your history if your mood is low.
