Extracorporeal shockwave therapy
Get shockwave for heel pain or a bad shoulder. Skip it for Achilles and knee.
Trigger point dry needling
Buy a few sessions when pain's blocking training. Don't buy the block of ten.
Functional Movement Screen as an injury-prediction tool
Don't buy corrective exercise off a movement screen score.
Isometric loading for tendon pain
Use the holds for game-day pain, then train the leg like normal.
Eccentric loading for tendinopathy
Load the sore tendon for 12 weeks. Resting it is what keeps it sore.
Kinesiology tape
Buy the cheap roll and tape it yourself. The pattern doesn't matter.
Graduated compression garments
Wear the tights for how they feel. They won't bring your strength back faster.
Intermittent pneumatic compression boots
Don't buy recovery boots. They fix how sore you feel, not how you perform.
Whole-body vibration platform
Warm up on the plate if you like. It won't train you and it won't fix sore legs.
Handheld percussion massage device
Run it on the muscle before you lift, and put it away after.
Foam rolling and roller massage
Roll before you lift. Rolling afterwards won't fix your soreness.
