Why it works
Tretinoin is vitamin A already in its acid form. Unlike retinol, it needs no conversion by skin enzymes. It binds the retinoic acid receptors in the cell nucleus directly and changes which genes skin cells switch on. That directness is why it is prescription-strength, why it works faster than cosmetic retinoids, and why the irritation phase can't be avoided.
Where it fits
Tretinoin is a move in 8 protocols. Each one opens the plan it sits in.
