When to see a doctor
- Unhealthy teeth or gums: decay, bleeding or sore gums are treated before any whitening.
- One tooth that has turned gray or dark. The nerve may have died, and it needs a dentist.
- Crowns, veneers, dentures or implants on the front teeth. Whitening only lightens natural teeth.
- Sensitivity or pain that is still there after 4 weeks, or getting worse.
- Sore gums, a sore throat or white patches on the gums that bother you after whitening.
- Whitening offered by anyone who is not a dentist, hygienist or therapist.
I am not a doctor or a dentist. This is not medical advice. This is self-education. Every strength on this page is the one a trial or a label used, quoted from it. It is not a prescription. Talk to a dentist who has seen your teeth before any peroxide.
