When to see a doctor
- Weight going up fast with swollen ankles, feet or legs and short of breath, a tight or painful chest, or feeling faint: call 911 now.
- Breathless when lying down or with everyday activity, or weight gained suddenly: get urgent care or your doctor today.
- Tired, cold all the time, constipated and putting on weight: see your doctor about your thyroid.
- Weight up since starting a medicine: speak to the prescriber, and keep taking it unless told to stop.
- Came off anabolic steroids or testosterone therapy, and now low mood, low sex drive, extreme tiredness and fat coming back: see your doctor for a testosterone blood test. On prescribed testosterone, never stop without your doctor.
- Regain that tracks your drinking: count the drinks for a week and cut down. Drinking every day and shaky or sweating when you cut down: see your doctor before you stop.
- Regularly eating a lot fast and not being able to stop, often in secret, with shame after: see your doctor as soon as you can.
- Breathing that stops and starts in your sleep, gasping or snorting, and always tired in the day: see your doctor about sleep apnea.
- Low mood, no interest or no enjoyment most of the day, every day, for more than 2 weeks: see your doctor.
I am not a doctor. This is not medical advice. This is self-education. Every figure on this page is the one a trial used, quoted from it. It is not a prescription. Talk to a professional who has your history before changing any medicine.
