Who it's forA man aged 18 to 45 who uses cannabis most days and gets attacks of vomiting that hot showers ease.
When to see a doctor
- Call 911 now: vomit with blood or like coffee grounds, green vomit, or severe chest pain after retching. The same for a sudden severe belly ache, confusion, blue or gray skin, or struggling to breathe.
- Urgent care or the ER: you cannot keep fluids down, the vomiting has run past a day, or you feel dizzy, have dark pee or have hardly peed.
- Weak muscles, cramps, tingling or skipped beats after vomiting: low potassium is possible. Seek care right away.
- Peeing much less than usual, very thirsty, swollen legs, or confused and sleepy after an attack: a kidney check. Urgent care or your doctor today.
- Blood in your vomit that has stopped, with no other symptoms: urgent care or your doctor today.
- The first attacks, or attacks that carry on after 6 months clear of cannabis: your doctor, to rule out other causes.
- At hospital, tell the staff: you use cannabis daily, and hot showers help. Name any anti-sickness drug that failed you before. Bring your attack log. Ask about an ECG before any injection.
