When to see a doctor
- A seizure: call 911. Seizures are among the serious harms reported with kratom.
- Slow or noisy breathing, blue lips, or someone who cannot be woken: call 911, give naloxone if you have it, and stay with them.
- Yellow skin or eyes, dark urine, pale stools, itching or pain under the right ribs: get help the same day from your doctor or urgent care. Kratom can injure the liver.
- Using 7-OH products or concentrated extracts, or mixing kratom with opioids, benzodiazepines, alcohol or sleeping pills: see a doctor before you taper.
- Fever, vomiting or bloody diarrhea after a new batch: see a doctor. Kratom products have carried salmonella and heavy metals.
- Taking kratom for pain, low mood, anxiety or to come off opioids: tell your doctor, so the reason gets treated alongside.
