When to see a doctor
- Swollen lips, mouth or throat, or struggling to breathe after milk, eggs, soy or a shake: call 911.
- Kidney disease, or on dialysis: your doctor or a dietitian sets your protein.
- High blood pressure or diabetes: ask about a kidney blood and urine test before you raise protein.
- Swollen ankles, feet or hands, blood in your pee, or tired and short of breath: see your doctor.
- Eating far too little, or worrying about your weight or body shape much of the day: see your doctor.
I am not a doctor. This is not medical advice. This is self-education. Every amount on this page is the one a trial or a position stand used, quoted from the source. It is not a prescription. With kidney disease, your doctor or dietitian sets your protein.
