No motivation
Also called Low drive, Lack of motivation, Lost my drive, Can't be bothered
Who it's forA man who cannot be bothered: no drive, and the things he used to like no longer pull.
When to see a doctor
- No interest or no enjoyment in things, or low mood, most of the day, every day, for more than 2 weeks: see your doctor. It can be depression.
- Flat with lost sex drive, erection trouble and no energy: ask about a testosterone test.
- Flat, cold, gaining weight: ask for a thyroid blood test.
- Ask your doctor about blood tests that rule out look-alikes: thyroid, vitamin B12, anemia and vitamin D.
- Loud snoring, gasping in sleep and tired all day: ask about sleep apnea.
- Using cannabis most days: it can flatten motivation. Tell the doctor.
- Flat after a stimulant weekend that does not lift, or after coming off anabolic steroids: see your doctor.
- The flatness started on a new medicine, such as an antidepressant or finasteride: talk to the prescriber. Never stop on your own.
- Drinking to get through the day, or shaking without a drink: see a doctor before you stop.
- Ever had days feeling wired and needing little sleep: tell the doctor before an antidepressant or bright light.
I am not a doctor. This is not medical advice. This is self-education. Every dose on this page is the one a trial or a label used, quoted from the source. It is not a prescription. Talk to a physician who has your history before anything in the With a doctor group.
