Who it's forA man of 18 or over whose brows are thin, patchy or sparse, and who wants them fuller.

When to see a doctor
  • Call 911 now: chest pain that does not go away, or spreads to the arm, neck, jaw or back, with sweating or breathlessness.
  • Stop bimatoprost and see the doctor at once: eye pain, a new eye infection, or a sudden drop in vision.
  • Your doctor or dermatologist: brows that were full and then lost hair in a smooth patch or fast, or loss on the scalp, beard or lashes too. It may be alopecia areata.
  • A dermatologist soon: brows thinning while the front hairline or temples recede, or the sideburns or beard thin. It may be a scarring hair loss.
  • Your doctor: thin brows with tiredness, feeling cold, weight gain or dry skin, or with breathlessness and pale skin. Ask for thyroid and iron blood tests.
  • Your doctor: brows that itch, flake, scale or look red.
  • Your doctor: pulling out brow hairs you cannot stop, or eating hair.
  • The prescriber: brows that thinned after a new medicine. Do not stop it on your own.
  • Stop minoxidil and see a doctor: a racing heart, faintness or dizziness, sudden weight gain, or swollen hands or feet.

I am not a doctor. This is not medical advice. This is self-education. Every dose and strength on this page is the one a trial or a label used, quoted from it. It is not a prescription. Minoxidil and bimatoprost on the brows are off-label. Talk to a physician who has your history before any prescription medicine. Smooth patches, loss elsewhere, or a receding hairline with thin brows: see a doctor first.
