When to see a doctor
  • Chest pain, or fainting while exercising: call 911 now.
  • A sudden pop or snap in the heel, calf or knee, then severe pain or you cannot push off: call urgent care or your doctor the same day. It may be a torn tendon.
  • A sharp pain in the back of the thigh while sprinting, with a pop, or it hurts to walk: get help from urgent care or your doctor today.
  • A knee that locks, gives way, or is badly swollen: get advice from urgent care or your doctor now.
  • Knee pain below the kneecap, or heel pain, that grows with each jump session and is not better within a few weeks: see your doctor. You can often refer yourself to a physical therapist.
  • Tired for a few weeks and you do not know why: see your doctor and ask about blood tests.
  • Loud snoring, gasping or choking at night, or always very tired in the day: see your doctor about sleep apnea.
  • Using, or thinking of using, anabolic steroids: see your doctor about the harms.
